NBK Launches National Business Forum to Empower SME

National Bank Kenya (NBK) has launched a new initiative, the National Business Forum, to support the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. The forum, which is a collaboration with The Leadership Group and Ashitiva LLP, will provide SMEs with access to financing, financial advisory services, business and legal advisory services, and training and development.

NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting SMEs and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit in Kenya. He said that the launch of the National Business Forum is a significant step towards achieving this goal and driving economic growth and development in the country.

“We understand the unique challenges Kenyan entrepreneurs face in securing financing and expanding their businesses,” Odhiambo said. “Our goal is to offer the support required to overcome these obstacles, enabling them to realise their full potential.”

The forum will focus on SMEs in the renewable energy, water, education, agribusiness, agriculture, healthcare, technology, and women in business sectors. It will also provide mentorship, capacity building, leadership, and growth programs to help SMEs scale their businesses tenfold within the next five years.

NBK is optimistic that the National Business Forum will attract like-minded development partners who share in its vision of supporting businesses through capacity building, funding, and strategic deal structuring.

  • SMEs make up 30% of NBK’s customers.
  • The forum will be launched with 100 businesses across various sectors.
  • The forum is expected to invest billions of shillings in local SMEs.
  • The forum will provide training and development on topics such as leadership, business acumen, and financial management.
  • The forum will also provide access to experienced business leaders and mentors.

The National Business Forum is a valuable resource for Kenyan SMEs. It provides them with the support they need to grow and succeed.
